Children’s Committee 2009 Project

Philosophy

KidsHouse is a project under the supervision of Children’s Committee since 1999. Unfortunately, Children’s Committee had been problem with financial assistant to run the project KidsHouse Project had been interrupted a while. In the presently Children’s Committee re-open this project in order to provide good scopes to the most vulnerable children to benefit from this project in the remote areas.
Now KidsHouse Center is planning to build us as soon as possible to fulfill the children’s need.
KidsHouse makes use of the basic fact that intellectual capabilities of children develop more rapidly from birth to age of 18 than at any other period in their lives. Young children at these ages can absorb all information without inhibition.

Everything that occurs during this early period has a profound effect in their lives. This means that an educational environment is extremely important for the development of the children's complete personality.

KidsHouse provides an effective and safe environment for young children to enhance their academic skills and develop their social and emotional abilities.

Moreover, it will provide the medium of instruction related the basic of Khmer literacy so that children can learn it naturally in a fun way through daily activities.

KidsHouse will not accept children to stay but we will provide them with meals, education, vocational training after they are free from school.

The goal of KidsHouse is to provide children with a unique experience, vocational training, life skill, and education that will help them obtain strong skills to be successful among their community.

Outline for 2009

Ages

KidsHouse accepts children from 6-18 years old; however exceptions to this rule can be taken into consideration. The multi-aged classroom assists the children in learning how to play, interact and learn from each other, more effectively than if the age groups were entirely separated all the time. Within the daily structured lesson however, three smaller groups are often formed to enable the children to learn new skills aimed at their appropriate age and ability level.

School's opening hours

KidsHouse activity hours are from 08:00 am to 4:00 pm. For safety reasons, the school's gate is opened for only 30 minutes before/after the activity hours. Parents are advised to take these times into consideration when visiting the center. There is an after school care program available for a fee. Please contact KidsHouse staff beforehand if you require this for your child.

Activities

KidsHouse provides an interesting and appropriately progressive environment for children. All activities are conducted in Khmer, Japanese Volunteer Teachers from partnership organization, and English. Children enjoy studying a variety of broad and challenging as Languages, vocational training and Art activities related to a rotating monthly theme. In class there are both highly qualified teachers who lead activities, and volunteer bilingual Japanese staff who provide individual attention to all children. More especially KidsHouse will provide the basic skill of Mushroom Cultivation in the school time to let them realize some skill till they age young enough.

Supplies

KidsHouse provides all necessary educational materials. This prevents parents having to purchase any stationary, such as crayons and scissors etc. However all children should bring an art smock, several plastic bags, 500ml of mineral water, a box of tissues and 2 dust rags on the first day of the school. A fork, spoon, drink bottle, communication notebook and towel should be brought to school everyday. All items must have the child's name. A clinic will also be established to monitor the children illness.

Food

KidsHouse arranges lunch and snack for them. However, parents may prepare lunch/snack for their own children. The school lunch does not contain any meat and is cooked separately from any other meat. The school snack is healthy and doesn't contain animal shortenings in consideration for Muslim children. Orders and cancellations are accepted until the day before.

Illness

KidsHouse needs to know how many children will be present each day so that daily activities can be planned and performed effectively. Therefore, if your child is unable to attend school due to illness or any other reason, we must be informed accordingly by 09:00 am. If a child becomes ill during school hours, his/her parents will be notified promptly and the child will be cared for until the authorized person arrives. If you suspect that your child has a contagious illness or a fever, please keep them at home. We can not administer medication to any child in case of a mistake. If there is change in emergency contact numbers, it is imperative that staffs are notified immediately.

Communication

KidsHouse has parents-teachers conference at the end of each quarter, to discuss the curriculum covered and every child's achievements and development. An individual report card highlighting your child's progress will be handed out at the end of the second and forth quarter. If parents want individual interviews with teachers, the staffs are happy to arrange a time. Parents can feel to ask questions to the staff when they arrive in the morning or when they pick up their children in the afternoon. Please utilize the communication notebook to notify us of your child's feelings, experience, incidents or any pertinent information. If you would like to watch your child within the class, you may observe from the hallway at any time.
